Fall Family Pictures

i will be doing fall family mini sessions on Tuesday, October 19th from 10am-6pm at Riverside park Boat Launch B by the pond. If you would like to have a session the cost is only $35 and will include a disk of your images with release and 1-2 poses with digital enhancement. The sessions with last about 20 minutes and you can bring your pets with you if you want.

So sorry I have not posted to my blog in a bit. I really have been posting more to my facebook fan page than anything else. Here are a few of my recent favorites.

New Location

We are officially moved to downtown GR. The new studio is located at 445 Century in the old Israel's Furniture Warehouse. Let me know if you would like to come in for a few new pictures. I will be working this summer on Monday nights, Tuesday and Thursday during the day and a few other days by appointment.

Studio Changes

I have decided to close my Comstock Park studio on June 1st and only work from the new downtown location. This was a big business decision but I will be able to serve all my clients needs from one location and have lots of room to give you the traditional mixed with the edgy-fun-urban stuff.

Please let me know if you really want one more shoot at the old location before we move. Thank you to all my wonderful clients that have supported me at my flagstaff location. I have high hopes for my future and think this is the right move.

CJ and Molly- January 30th

CJ and Molly were married in Grand Rapids on Saturday, January 30th. I loved all the rich colors that they chose to be a part of their very special day. Molly was picture perfect in her wedding dress and just glowed with excitement. Their reception was held at the Masonic Center in downtown Grand Rapids and their guest danced the night away enjoying every minute of their day.

Tim and Sally- January 29th

Tim and Sally were married on a very chilly Friday the 29th of January in the Jenison area. They celebrated their reception with a large group of their family and friends at the Holland Fish and Game club later in the evening and had a wonderful event from beginning to the end.

Greg and Andrea December 19th

Greg and Andrea were married at the wonderful Mayflower Congregational in East Grand Rapids on Saturday, December 19th. Christmas weddings are always so rich in color and full of sentiment and their day was filled with both.

We were lucky enough to get some fresh fallen snow for our outdoor pictures and the ladies were even brave enough to attempt snow angels in their dresses. It was a perfect Michigan winter wedding with lots of love to keep everyone warm.

Pete and Amy were married in Kentwood on Friday, December 18th in a wonderful pre-Christmas wedding. The colors were festive and rich and the Bride and Groom were just perfect.

We had a wonderful time at the reception trying to figure out where Pete was taking Amy on their surprise honeymoon. I think I was more excited about it than anyone else, surprises make me feel like a kid again. It was the Bahama's and from the pictures I have seen they had a wonderful time.

John and Beth were married Saturday, November 21st in Grand Haven. It was so nice to see two people find each other and bring a family together so easily. John is quiet but just lights up when Beth is around.

It was interested that we were still able to take pictures on the beach in late November and I thank the wedding party for putting up with the frigid weather.

Shane and Beth were married on Saturday, November 14th in Grand Rapids.

Beth, what a ball of energy and excitement. It was so much fun getting to know both Shane and Beth but Beth is someone that I will remember for years to come. She is so much fun to be around and was so happy to just be getting married. Her excitement is contagious and I wish I could be around her everyday to feed off her energy.

We had wonderful weather despite the fact that is was mid November and were so luck to take most of the days pictures in the outdoors with fluffy clouds. It was a photographers dream.

Pat and Mary were married in Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 24th. Despite the crazy fall weather we had in October the day turned out beautiful and we were even able to head outside for a few pictures.

It is always fun to work with a family that I know outside of the business. Mary and her family have lived in Comstock Park for as long as I can remember and I have had the pleasure of photographing one of her cousin's wedding too. Emily is Mary's sister and has been a teacher to both my girls. It was like working with family all day and I was so happy to be their witnessing and recording this event for them.

Chris and Beth were married in downtown Chicago on Saturday, October 17th. It was a wonderful fall day in the city and we were so happy to be able to take outdoor pictures with Chicago as a backdrop.

Ryan and Mitzi were married in Kalamazoo on Saturday, October 3rd. The weather was perfect and the wedding party was a blast to work with. The best man had me cracking up most of the day with his one-liners. It was so nice to work with this group of people, there were guest from all over the United States there to help them celebrate this union of two families into one.

Danielle and Brandon were married on Saturday, September 12th at Thornapple Pointe Golf Course in Ada. It was a perfect day and everything flowed so smoothly. We had a great time with the wedding party out on the golf course and were able to capture some fun and silly pictures. Danielle was an adventurous bride and we spent some time laying on the train tracks in the afternoon. I just love a bride that will do crazy things.

Shane and Beth were married in Grand Rapids on Saturday, November 14th. Beth is by far one of the most excited brides I have ever had. She was a JOY to work with and her excitement is so contagious. She is truly a kind, caring person and her wedding was more than I could have hoped for.

Living in Michigan can always be a question when it comes to weather but Shane and Beth had one of the prettiest days this fall to get married. I was actually wearing short sleeves and was warm. We spent time at the church, downtown and at the University Club.

Mary's sister and I went to High School together along with the fact Emily was my girls teacher and is one of the BEST kindergarten teachers I know.

The weather tried really hard to keep us inside but just as we were scheduled to head outside for the day the clouds broke apart and the sun peaked a bit through. Michael and Michelle were married in Holland on Saturday, July 18th in a mid morning Catholic ceremony. Their vows were witnessed by close family and friends and a very large family filled wedding party. We then went on to Windmill Island for a colorful music filled reception. One of the highlights of the evening was the dancers coming in to perform some of Michelle's moms island dances. The colors were vibrant and the guests were so welcoming. It was a wonderful event.

Matt and Kari were married on Friday, July 17th in Grand Haven. It was a gloomy day but the bride and groom were just glowing. We headed down to the beach before the rain rolled in and had a fun but windy time on the pier. There were a few hiccups due to the weather but it was a beautiful event with a wonderful bride and groom.

Sam and Rachelle were married on Saturday, July 11th at the Alumni House on Grand Valley's Campus. They had a small but fun wedding party and their family and friends were from all over the world, literally. It was simple and beautiful. The weather was perfect and I was in pink heaven.

I LOVE Rachelle's headpiece. I almost jumped out of my shoes with excitement when I showed up and she looked like a 1930's diva. It was perfect!

Tony and Dawn were married on Friday, July 10th at Baypointe Inn on Gun Lake. It was a wonderfully simple event with just family and friends in attendance. The weather was perfect, the food was wonderful and the cake was divine. It was such a pleasure to be part of their day and I enjoyed documenting all their wedding moments to remind them of their perfect day for year to come.

Cancel Due to Weather

I have spent a long morning debating what we should do about Beach Day. Well after reviewing the hour by hour forecast and going on all the weather cam in Muskegon I am going to have to say that we will be cancel for today and reschedule for next week Thursday the 27th. I have looked at the 10 day forecast and next week looks much better.

Beach Day Thursday the 20th

i have been a persistent weather watcher and I am a bit worried about weather for our Beach Day on Thursday in Muskegon. I am not going to call the day due to weather until I know for sure that it is going to be a rain out. If I cancel the day the reschedule date will be on the 27th and all appointments will be able to have the same times.

Thursday, August 20th BEACH DAY

I am planning on another Beach Day this year. It will be on Thursday, August 20th at Kruse Park in Muskegon. This beach is a dog friendly beach and has lots of fun placed to take pictures.

Wes and Annie July3rd

Wes and Annie were married on Friday, July 3rd in Grand Haven. The ceremony was one of the funniest that I have ever attended. This was due to the wonderfully candid wording of Annie's father that performed the ceremony. His words of advise and wisdom that he gave Wes and Annie will forever live in my memory.

The reception was held at Grand Haven Golf Club and we spent a few minutes at the beach too. The cakes were very impressive considering the groom did them himself. Wes works at the club and all his hard work was very impressive.

Wes and Annie are an amazing couple and I hope to see there marriage success in year to come. Congratulations!!!

New downtown studio

It is time for senior pictures to get in full gear again and I am loving the new studio for some great shots. Taylor met me down there a week ago and we took a TON of pictures. Ryan and Christina were married for a second time on Saturday, June 27th at Windmill Island in Holland. It was a beautiful sunny day filled with lots of color and great stops to take tons of pictures.

Ludema's provided the wonderfully girly flowers and centerpieces. The tent at Windmill is a such a fun place to have a reception. The food was GREAT from Pietro's and I left way too full.

Thanks for letting me witness your day. It was just perfect.

Pete and Katie were married on the wonderfully warm afternoon of June 20th. The ceremony was held at Mayflower Congregational Church in East Grand Rapids and the reception then followed at the Hilton on 28th Street.

We spent some time traveling downtown for a few fun wedding party pictures and in all the day was just perfect. I love the brilliant colors of the flowers provided by Ludema's and Katie was just picture perfect in her wedding gown.

Curt and Chelsea were married on the perfect Sunday afternoon of June 14th. The ceremony was held in Hager Park located in Jenison and the reception then followed at St. Cecelia's Musical Center. Chelsea is a fellow photographer and I always am amazed when someone that enjoys taking pictures chooses me to photograph one of the most special days of their life. This is the third photographer that I have had the pleasure of photographing on their wedding day and I am so thankful.

Curt and Chelsea were more than willing to do anything I asked of them including sitting in a field of flowers and going to the new studio downtown in all its grungy dust. I had so much fun as you can see through their pictures. I took over 3000 pictures and I could have taken more if I had more time.

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day. Good luck on your move. I hope that you settle into your new lives and find wonderful friends down south.

Nick and Lisa June 13th

What a blessing the wedding day celebration was for Nick and Lisa. Nick just recently got back from serving our country in Iraq. During his time away he missed the birth of his son but he has spent lots of time making it up. He is just the most affectionate and amazing dad.

The wedding took place on Saturday, June 13th in Saugatuch. The weather was great and the location was picture perfect. Nick and Lisa were married a year ago in a small private ceremony before Nick left for Iraq. This was there way of celebrating with their family and friends and being thankful that Nick and his group of friends returned to their family safely.

I am always amazed at people that sacrifice so much of their time and energy to keep us safe. Congratulation to you both. I wish you many years of happiness and lots of time together to make up for the time you were apart.

Mike and Lynn June 6th

Mike and Lynn were married Saturday, June 6th in Morley. The wedding was held outside on Mike's parents property and the reception was held under a tent in the same field.

Lynn chose classic red, white and black for her colors and with all the outdoor pictures that were taken the flower colors just were vibrant. We were able to escape for a bit after the ceremony and went into Morley for a few pictures by the water.

I am sure if you asked Mike what his favorite part of the day was he would tell you out smoking his tires on his car of when he saw my tail-lights of my car as I was leaving. Just kidding Mike, you were fun to work with. Just remember Smile:)

Mike and Julie June 5th

Mike and Julie were married on the very sunny afternoon of Friday, June 5th. Frederick Meijer Gardens is always the picture perfect place to have a wedding and this was no exception. I could probably take at least 3000 pictures on a good day. Julie was the perfect example of a magazine cover bride. She just glowed! Despite having to squint ALOT it was perfect.

Luke and Amanda May 30th

Luke and Amanda were married in Coopersville on Saturday, May 30th. This was my second wedding with Luke's family and it was a delight to be a part of their special day. It is always great to celebrate with a family more than once. Despite a few hiccups in the days events the weather turned out great and I took over 2800 pictures. There are going to be a ton to look through.

My favorite part of the day was at the Veteran's facility fountain. The clouds were perfect and the lighting was soft and the Bride and Groom were able to relax and enjoy each other without 25 sets of eyes on them.

Off to Camp

I will be out of office on Monday (day), Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks. It is summer after all and I felt the need to help out with a local church and camp. This will allow me to share my craft with young people and tell kids about God and him playing a big part in all our lives.

I will be back to normal studio hours on the 29th. I will try and keep up with all my ordering, uploading and other fun stuff in the evening hours.

Steve and Rachal May 23rd

Steve and Rachel were married in Rockford on Saturday, May 23rd. We traveled to Townsend Park with the wedding party to take a few fun pictures after the ceremony and I was so pleased with how vibrant the colors turned out. It was a great day for taking outdoor pictures. There were both great to work with and more than willing to brave the elements for a few more shots at the reception on the golf course.

Thank for letting me be a part of your day. Your wedding cake was great, one that I won't forget for a long time.
